Panasonic Video and Audio Systems North America, a unit of Panasonic Connect of North America, has introduced the AW-RP200GJ, a remote camera controller designed to work with Panasonic’s PTZ lineup—including the AW-UE160W/K, AW-UE150AW/AK, and AW-UE150W/K—for large-scale, multi-camera productions. The controller targets live event and broadcast workflows where real-time operation and reliability are critical. Shipping is expected to begin in early 2026.

IBC 2025 Showcase

Shown at the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) 2025, the AW-RP200GJ supports advanced production techniques such as integration with robotic systems and complex multi-camera setups. It builds on the AW-RP150GJ controller while adding new capabilities including macro recording, a dual-joystick layout, and refinements for multi-camera operation.

Macro Functionality

As Panasonic’s first remote camera controller to offer macro support, the AW-RP200GJ lets operators record and store a sequence of actions—such as switching presets or coordinating multiple cameras—and recall them with a single button press. This feature is intended to streamline repeatable tasks and help maintain consistency under time pressure.

Scalability & Control

A single AW-RP200GJ can manage up to 200 PTZ cameras. The main joystick can be assigned to pan/tilt with zoom or focus, and a second joystick on the left enables simultaneous adjustments—such as reframing while changing position—to support smoother live operation.

Operation Modes & Interface

  • Camera selection (assignable up to 20 cameras)
  • Preset selection (assignable up to 20 cameras)
  • Macro selection (assignable up to 20 cameras)
  • Camera & preset (assignable up to 10 cameras and 10 presets)
  • Camera & macro (assignable up to 10 cameras and 10 macros)

Each switch includes a built-in LCD indicator showing the assigned mode, supporting quick and accurate execution during live production.

Configuration & Workflow

Device settings can be configured via a web browser on a connected PC. The interface supports batch assignment of IP addresses and camera numbers across multiple units, helping reduce setup time for larger systems. Operators can perform menu operations, create macros, and assign functions to user-defined buttons directly from the browser to streamline system configuration.

Video & Connectivity

The AW-RP200GJ includes 3G-SDI input and supports IP video input via NDI® High Bandwidth and SRT. Video from cameras connected over LAN can be monitored on the controller’s built-in LCD and via SDI OUT, aiding on-site setup and system checks.
