Sony BURANO IR Filter Replacement Available Through June 2026

Sony has announced a free replacement program for the infrared (IR) cut filter in select BURANO (MPC-2610) digital cinema cameras. This upgraded filter is designed to improve color accuracy when filming under strong lighting conditions—especially direct sunlight.

What’s Being Replaced?

Sony developed a new IR cut filter to enhance color reproduction. If your BURANO is within the specified serial number range and does not already have the new filter, you're eligible for this free replacement. This service is available through June 30, 2026.

Is Your Camera Eligible?

Applicable serial numbers:

• 1000001 to 1000727
• 1500001 to 1500271

How to check if you already have the new filter:
Remove your E-mount lens or PL adapter and inspect the top of the front optical filter component. If you see a small protrusion on the upper portion, your camera already has the new IR cut filter and does not require replacement.

How to Request the Replacement

To initiate service, contact Sony Product Support or your regional Sony Service Center directly. You’ll need to:

• Complete the Sony service request form
• Pay only for outbound shipping (Sony covers labor, parts, and return shipping)
• Ship only the camera body with clear labeling—leave off accessories, media cards, and cages

There is no diagnostic fee unless you request additional repairs during the same service visit.
