Sony Venice Masterclass with Alister Chapman
Discover Sony’s Venice 6K Full Frame Cinema Camera, from acquisition to post production!
In this full day educational workshop, Alister Chapman will show you how Sony’s Venice camera really is very different than any camera Sony has created before. Learn how its new color science can help create breathtakingly beautiful images with very little effort. See just how easy Venice is to use despite the amazing range of frame sizes, aspect ratios and resolutions it is capable of. How can the Rialto remote sensor block benefit your shoot? Using his practical experience on many different types of Venice projects Alister will discuss the merits of shooting full frame verses shooting in super 35mm, present tips and hints to help you get the very best from the camera and look at how to expose it correctly with minimum effort. Find out what lenses you can use, from low cost DSLR lenses to high end cinema glass. Also, learn more about how the dual ISO function works and how it might benefit your next project.
As part of the workshop Alister will show a full end to end workflow for shooting using both XAVC and SxS cards as well as the incredibly detailed 16 bit X-OCN that can be recorded with the AXS-R7 recorder. See how easy it is to edit and grade X-OCN with only a modest computer.
Shooting with S-Log3 and X-OCN does necessitate some degree of color grading. To complete the day, Alister will compare different grading techniques including the use of LUT’s, grading from scratch as well as color managed workflows such as ACES. He will then show how to prepare your material for both standard dynamic range (SDR) and high dynamic range (HDR) deliveries.
