SXSW 2019 Recap

Omega Broadcast & Cinema was in the spotlight this year at the 2019 SXSW Tradeshow. With nine cinema cameras pointed towards an incredibly talented musician, the booth was undeniably a ‘must see.’ Attendees had the opportunity to explore the variety of cameras and lenses in order to find out which features best suited their preferences, all while enjoying the musical stylings of a very talented violinist, Collin Turner.
	Sony Omega was thrilled to announce the newest addition to their cinema family - the Sony VENICE CineAlta Full-Frame 6K Camera. This engineering masterpiece was front and center within Omega's booth and drew the attention of a lot of filmmakers. While Sony displayed a selection of their professional cameras including the Venice, PXW-FS7M2, and PXW-FS5M2, they also showcased their Alpha a7R III Mirrorless Digital SLR Camera.
Panasonic The VaricamLT 4K cinema camera was a huge hit amongst the crowd as they were able to see beautiful, cinema-quality images on Panasonic's BT-4LH310 4K broadcast monitor. Additional 4K cameras that were showcased included the AU-EVA1 with its new 3.0 features, the new AG-CX350 NDI camera, and the AW-UE150 4K NDI PTZ camera (pictured to the right), all of which are capable of producing vibrant, high-quality images. The AV-HLC100 NDI streaming switcher gave a whole new meaning to ‘joy stick’ as attendees were able to sample the ease of the switcher with onboard PTZ camera control.
	Sigma SXSW attendees, while choosing their preference of camera, were also able to take their pick from Sigma’s line of cinema lenses to complement their shooting style. These gorgeous lenses were able to capture the grace and presence of the musician, from the strum of his guitar to the beat of a drum.
