Cokin NKPSM NUANCES Extreme P Series Smart Kit
This Cokin NUANCES Extreme P Series Smart Kit contains three filters that are designed for use with a Cokin P Series Filter Holder. They can be used individually or in various combinations to improve the results of your landscape photography. Included is a solid neutral density filter that can be used to create a darkening of the entire image; a soft-edge graduated neutral density filter, which prevents overexposure in specific areas of an image, such as bright skies, while allowing for a normal, unaffected exposure in the other regions of the image; and a soft-edge reverse-graduated neutral density filter that can be applied to darken bright skies, specifically during a sunrise or sunset, while allowing for a normal, unaffected exposure in the other regions of the image.
Cokin NUANCES Extreme filters are constructed from tempered, shock-resistant glass and feature nano-metallic alloy film coatings on both sides of the filter surface to attenuate infrared light while maintaining true color fidelity, even when stacked with other Cokin NUANCES or NUANCES Extreme filters. Anti-glare coatings further help to reduce surface reflections for increased contrast and clarity, while additional hydrophobic coatings result in an improved beading effect when in contact with water for greater cleaning efficiency. Additionally, Cokin NUANCES Extreme filters feature C-shaped edges. This rounded edge shape resists chipping to further enhance durability.
A microfiber cloth is also provided for cleaning and maintenance of the filters.

The Cokin NUANCES Extreme P Series ND 3.0 Filter is a neutral density filter with a 1000x filter factor that provides a 10-stop exposure reduction and is designed for use with a Cokin P Series Filter Holder. Its 3.0 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. By increasing your aperture or slowing your exposure time, you can control depth of field and convey movement more easily. Neutral density filters do not affect the coloration of the image and are ideal for pairing with other filters.

It can be applied to darken bright skies, specifically during a sunrise or sunset, while allowing for a normal, unaffected exposure in the other regions of the image.
This filter achieves its effect with a 0.6 band of density across its center region that provides a 2-stop reduction in light from entering a lens. This band extends in both vertical directions which tapers to a 0.3 density that provides a 1-stop reduction in light at the edge above it. Directly below the 0.6 band of density, it tapers to clear, with a soft-edged line of transition before the clear area.
The placement of a 0.6 band of density that tapers to a density of 0.3 above it with a clear area directly below, allows the Cokin NUANCES Extreme P Series Soft-Edge Reverse-Graduated Neutral Density 0.6 to 0.3 Filter to match the positioning of the sun when it is at, or immediately above the horizon. In such instances, the sun can appear closer to the center of an image as opposed to the upper edge, and an increase in brightness is created that is more prominent on both sides of the sun than above it.
