The KOMODO-X™ advances the KOMODO lineup by increasing frame rates, dynamic range, and overall usability, offering filmmakers new creative possibilities.

Next-Generation KOMODO® Sensor

The KOMODO-X retains the same 6K S35 Global Shutter sensor size as its predecessor but features a complete architectural overhaul. This results in enhanced detail and color accuracy, especially in shadows, while doubling the frame rates to 6K 80P and 4K 120P, making it an even more powerful tool for creative professionals.

Enhanced Body and I/O for Professional Use

The KOMODO-X has undergone upgrades to support professional workflows. It shares many features with the DSMC3™ line while maintaining the compact, portable form factor of the KOMODO. An integrated micro V-Lock allows for the direct use of micro V-Lock batteries and is also compatible with the upcoming RED Pro I/O Module for auxiliary power and the use of full-sized V-Lock and Gold Mount batteries.

The reinforced RF lens mount, equipped with a locking mechanism, supports tool-free switching between lens types while providing enhanced stability and durability. Additionally, the camera is fully compatible with /i PL lenses when using the RED® RF to PL Adapter.

Enhanced connectivity options include 12G SDI, full-sized DC-IN, USB Type-C, and a phantom-powered locking audio connector, ensuring seamless integration into various professional workflows. The camera also supports RED® adapters for existing KOMODO microphones or general-purpose XLR microphones.

The built-in 2.9” LCD simplifies control and image preview, while the DSMC3™ RED® Touch 7.0" LCD offers a daylight-viewable, high-resolution monitoring option for more precise viewing.

IP-Connected for Remote Workflows

KOMODO-X is optimized for IP-based production environments, including virtual productions and live broadcasts. It features an integrated USB Type-C connection, built-in Wi-Fi, and supports remote control via RED Control or RED Control Pro. It also offers IP media offloading through FTPS or in-camera cloud uploading (Frame.io and S3).

The camera supports frame-accurate PTP synchronization and tri-level genlock sensor sync, ensuring precise timing in multi-camera productions with LED volume setups. Additionally, RED Connect, an optional licensed feature, enables live broadcasting of 6K imagery directly from the camera over IP, broadening the use of RED's cinematic quality in new live production applications.
