The KOMODO-X™ builds upon the foundation of the original KOMODO, enhancing frame rates, dynamic range, and usability to push the boundaries of creative filmmaking.

Next-Generation KOMODO® Sensor

Retaining the 6K S35 Global Shutter sensor size of the KOMODO, the KOMODO-X features a complete architectural redesign, delivering improved performance. Enhanced detail and color reproduction in shadows, combined with the ability to shoot at 6K 80P and 4K 120P, make the KOMODO-X an indispensable tool for creatives.

Enhanced Body and I/O for Professional Workflows

Designed with advanced professional features, the KOMODO-X shares many characteristics with the DSMC3™ line while maintaining the compact KOMODO form factor. The integrated micro V-Lock enables direct attachment of micro V-Lock batteries, and compatibility with the upcoming RED Pro I/O Module allows for the use of full-sized V-Lock and Gold Mount batteries.

A reinforced RF lens mount with a locking mechanism supports tool-free lens switching while offering the durability required for professional setups. The camera is also compatible with /i PL lenses when paired with the RED® RF to PL Adapter.

Connectivity options have been significantly improved, including 12G SDI, full-sized DC-IN, USB Type-C, and a phantom-powered locking audio connector, allowing seamless integration into professional workflows. The camera also supports RED® adapters for KOMODO and general-purpose microphones.

The built-in 2.9" LCD offers convenient control and image preview, while compatibility with the DSMC3™ RED® Touch 7.0" LCD provides a daylight-viewable, high-resolution monitoring solution.

IP-Connected for Remote Workflows

KOMODO-X is optimized for IP-based workflows, from virtual production to live broadcast. With integrated USB Type-C, built-in Wi-Fi, and IP media offloading capabilities (via FTPS or cloud upload with Frame.io and S3), remote control and content management are streamlined. PTP synchronization and tri-level genlock sensor sync ensure precise frame accuracy for multi-camera productions.

RED Connect, an optional licensed feature, expands the camera’s capabilities by enabling live 6K broadcast directly over IP, further extending RED’s renowned cinematic quality to live production environments.
