Combining the frame rates, low-light capabilities, and resolution of the V-RAPTOR® series with the global shutter technology of the KOMODO®, this cutting-edge sensor represents the pinnacle of digital cinema advancements. Equipped with RED’s latest 8K VV sensor, the V-RAPTOR [X] delivers large-format, global shutter, high-frame-rate 8K capture within a compact, feature-rich body weighing just over 4 lbs.

INTRODUCING NIKON Z MOUNT

As part of the Z CINEMA Series, the V-RAPTOR [X] Z Mount now integrates a native locking Nikon Z mount, bringing Nikon’s latest optical innovations to professional cinema. This collaboration between Nikon and RED enhances the cinematic experience with features like smooth iris control, customizable lens response, and adjustable autofocus speeds. Additionally, the shallow flange depth allows for broad lens compatibility through third-party adapters.

SETTING A NEW STANDARD

The V-RAPTOR [X] stands as the first large-format global shutter camera on the market. Retaining the signature features of the original V-RAPTOR, it offers dual 12G SDI outputs for unique monitoring views, a locking Nikon Z mount for secure lens adaptability, and CFexpress Type B media supporting speeds up to 800MB/s for formats like 8K 120P. Further enhancements include improved in-camera audio pre-amps and a redesigned sensor cavity to reduce stray light and enhance contrast.

EXPANDING CINEMATIC POSSIBILITIES

The V-RAPTOR [X] 8K VV pushes boundaries with RED Global Vision, an advanced toolset that maximizes the potential of its global shutter sensor. Extended Highlights provide greater highlight detail for HDR workflows or a smoother SDR roll-off. Phantom Track enhances Virtual Production with support for GhostFrame™ and Frame Remapping, allowing for simultaneous R3D capture per sub-frame slice while offering live monitoring of each slice over SDI outputs.

Built on the DSMC3 platform, the V-RAPTOR [X] is designed for modern workflows with advanced IP connectivity. Features include remote control and monitoring, in-camera Frame.io integration, AWS direct upload, and RED Connect, which enables live 8K R3D streaming over IP or live 4K over SMPTE ST 2110—delivering unparalleled flexibility for live production environments.
