As the DSMC3 flagship, it debuts a large-format global shutter and RED’s Global Vision tools, unlocking unprecedented control and image latitude. Expect 8K resolution, crisp global-shutter motion, excellent low-light results, and high frame rates in a compact body a touch over 4 lb.
New Large-Format Standard
This first-of-its-kind large-format global shutter camera also introduces Global Vision for greater flexibility and dynamic range. Familiar V-RAPTOR staples remain—locking Canon RF mount, single CFexpress Type B slot supporting up to 8K120, and dual 12G-SDI monitoring. Updates include a redesigned sensor cavity to tame stray light and boost contrast, plus upgraded onboard audio preamps.

Achieve 17+ stops in standard modes, expanding to 20+ with Extended Highlights—combining soft, natural highlight roll-off with robust low-light performance.
Phantom Track
Optimize virtual production using GhostFrame or frame remapping: record distinct R3D files for each subframe slice and monitor either slice live over separate SDI feeds. Directors can work with greenscreen references while VFX sees clean plates, and broadcasters can apply targeted ad overlays in real time.

RED DIGITAL CINEMA V-RAPTOR Tactical Top Plate with Battery Adapter Plus (V-Mount)
Secure a V-Mount battery up top and power accessories while adding robust mounting. The plate provides a pogo connector, SMBUS pass-through, E-Fuse safety, one D-Tap, two 2-pin ports, a 6-pin DC input, and multiple 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 threads. Compatible with V-RAPTOR (not DSMC, DSMC2, RANGER, or KOMODO).

Add pro I/O by attaching the Expander Blade to the camera’s 9-pin EXT (ARCA support included). Ports include BNC for genlock, 5-pin timecode, 4-pin RED CTRL, and 3-pin Fischer for run/stop trigger (no power). For DSMC3 only.

A compact base system with 15mm LWS rod clamps and included rods for matte boxes, follow focus, lens motors, and more. Slides on the dovetail with a lever lock for precise balance. The Arca plate adds anti-twist features and rubber pads. Supports the Expander Blade, battery adapters, and Side Ribs. (Not for DSMC, DSMC2, or RANGER; KOMODO requires the optional KOMODO Riser Plate.)
RED DIGITAL CINEMA DSMC3 5-Pin to Dual XLR 3-Pin Adapter
Expand audio with two XLR inputs. Connect the 5-pin ODU cable from the camera to the adapter to get mic/line support and 48V phantom power. Mounts via a 3/8"-26 screw with anti-twist pins and offers six M2.5 holes for future accessories. (Not for DSMC, DSMC2, RANGER, or KOMODO.)
