It can also record in 4K, 8K, or 12K without cropping the image, preserving the full field of view of the lens. For productions using traditional cinema glass, 9K Super 35 modes are also available.
Professional Body Design
The camera body is engineered for high-end production environments, with balanced weight distribution and a durable build that combines a magnesium alloy chassis with a lightweight carbon fiber polycarbonate shell. A fold-out 5-inch touchscreen provides access to settings and playback, while a second 5-inch assist display with full controls supports crew operation. Standard LEMO and Fischer connections allow for remote control and accessory power, while onboard connectivity includes 12G-SDI, 100G Ethernet, USB-C, XLR audio, and illuminated control buttons.
Optional B4 Broadcast Lens Support
With an optional B4 lens mount, the URSA Cine 12K LF 100G can be adapted for broadcast-style servo zoom lenses and higher frame rate production. In its 4.6K B4 crop 16:9 mode, it can reach up to 240 fps, making it especially useful for sports and fast-paced live content.
Interchangeable Lens Mount System
Because different productions require different lens types, the camera is designed with a swappable mount system. It ships with an ARRI PL mount and also includes a Canon EF mount, while optional B4 and ARRI LPL mounts are available separately. This allows users to move between cinema lenses, modern photographic lenses, and other specialty options depending on the project. Each mount also includes contact pins for lens metadata capture during monitoring and post.
Flexible Format Options
The camera’s sensor architecture supports a wide range of framing and mastering needs. Full-frame open gate enables reframing in post, while anamorphic support expands creative delivery options. In addition to 4K, 8K, and 12K full-sensor recording, the camera also supports 9K Super 35 modes in 4-perf, 3-perf, and 2-perf configurations for compatibility with classic cinema lenses and workflows.
Monitoring and Camera Operation
On-set operation is streamlined through multiple monitoring tools. The fold-out display offers a 5-inch HDR touchscreen on one side and an external status display on the other, and it can rotate and fold back into the body. A second 5-inch HDR display on the assistant side gives crews more control without requiring extra monitors. With a 1500 cd/m² brightness rating and a removable sunshade, the display remains usable in bright environments. Overlays can show critical data such as recording status, frame guides, histograms, and other shooting information.
Blackmagic RAW Recording
Blackmagic RAW is designed to preserve image quality directly from the sensor while embedding valuable production data such as metadata, lens information, white balance, slate details, and LUTs. The format offers both constant quality and constant bit rate recording modes, giving users a choice between adaptive compression and more predictable file sizes. With the Media Module 8TB, the camera can record more than four hours of 12K Blackmagic RAW or roughly 20 hours in 4K.
Industry-Standard Connectivity
The URSA Cine 12K LF 100G includes a broad set of professional connections suited to cinema production. Front-mounted 7-pin LEMO and 3-pin Fischer ports provide record start/stop and 24V power for accessories such as lens motors. The main camera power input is a 24V 8-pin LEMO, and a rear 12V 2-pin LEMO supports lower-voltage accessories. Two independent 12G-SDI outputs support separate monitoring feeds, and the 100G Ethernet connection allows high-speed cloud and media workflows.
Built-In Optical Low-Pass Filter
To reduce moire and aliasing that can appear when sharp sensors and lenses interact with synthetic fabrics or LED panels, the camera includes a dedicated optical low-pass filter tuned specifically for the sensor. The filter also incorporates updated IR handling to improve far-red color performance, helping maintain strong color fidelity and fine image detail when paired with Blackmagic RAW processing.
Integrated Color-Balanced ND Filters
Built-in 2-stop, 4-stop, and 6-stop ND filters allow for quick exposure control without changing the camera’s color response. These filters are designed to match Blackmagic’s color science and minimize both visible and infrared contamination. A precision optical mechanism moves the filters into place quickly, and users can view the setting as an ND number, stop value, or fraction directly on the display.
High-Speed Recording Media
The URSA Cine platform includes high-performance internal media support built around Blackmagic’s Cloud Store-style storage technology. The included rugged 8TB Media Module provides the speed required for high-resolution and high-frame-rate recording, and a 16TB version is also available separately. Media modules can be removed and loaded into a Blackmagic Media Dock for network transfer or Blackmagic Cloud syncing. Users can also continue working with CFexpress media through the included dual-slot Blackmagic Media Module CF.
High Resolution and High Frame Rates
The camera supports a broad mix of resolution and frame rate options, effectively giving productions multiple imaging modes in one body. It can record up to 100 fps in 12K 17:9, up to 120 fps in 12K widescreen, 144 fps at 8192 x 5360, 180 fps at 8192 x 3408, and up to 224 fps in 8K 2.4:1 widescreen. With the 100G Ethernet model, even higher frame rate live workflows are possible when using a B4 lens mount and SMPTE-2110 output.
Generation 6 Color Science
Blackmagic’s Generation 6 Color Science is designed to improve color accuracy and deliver more natural skin tones. It supports 3D LUT workflows across film, video, and extended video gamuts and allows custom LUT loading for tailored output pipelines. The system also supports preloaded color spaces such as Rec. 709, Rec. 2020, and PQ, while dual 3D LUT processors allow different outputs to carry separate LUT treatments. An additional LUT path is reserved for SMPTE-2110 output.
Live Sync with DaVinci Resolve
The camera can generate a lightweight H.264 proxy alongside the original recording, allowing proxy files to upload quickly to Blackmagic Cloud while shooting. That makes footage available to editors in near real time and allows direct integration into DaVinci Resolve media bins. In multi-camera productions, Resolve’s multisource workflow can display multiple synchronized camera angles for faster editing and collaboration.
Direct Live Streaming
Built-in streaming support lets the URSA Cine 12K LF 100G send live video directly from set using RTMP or SRT. Productions can stream to major platforms or directly to clients by connecting through Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or a tethered 4G/5G phone. Because the streaming engine is built into the camera, operators can monitor stream health and bitrate directly in the viewfinder and LCD. The camera can also stream to a Blackmagic ATEM Streaming Bridge to create a wireless video link back to a studio or video village.
Mobile Data, Wi-Fi, and Ethernet Connectivity
When sending proxy media to Blackmagic Cloud or streaming live, the camera can connect through mobile data using a USB-C connected Apple or Android phone.
