More About the EOS C500 Mark II and the EOS C300 Mark III
CANON STRATEGY
The very important point here is that Canon Inc very carefully planned the launch of these two cameras in approximately the same time frame.
The rationale here is as follows:
- Introducing the C500 Mk II and the C300 Mk III at almost the same time – is a brilliant competitive move.
- It makes the statement that Canon recognizes two worldwide constituencies – one, the hugely established Super 35mm, and the second, the newly growing Full-Frame.
- We will squarely address both – and offer all of the amazing flexibilities of this new modular system to both.
SUPER 35mm
It is a given that, worldwide, the Super 35mm format is by far the most universally established. It was so, long before digital cinematography arrived.
Super 35mm digital cinematography is now about 15 years in the marketplace – and it is now supported by numerous global competitors.
The EOS C300 Mark III is a very powerful answer to all of those competitive challengers. It has NO peer when it comes to Price / Performance / Flexibility.
We should accordingly, drive it hard and fast into the marketplace. It promises to be a phenomenal success.
FULL FRAME
The Full-Frame movement in digital cinematography is only four years old. It has gained high attention. There are now a growing number of competitors.
While it is a slow-growing movement – it is a very important movement – especially in the moviemaking arena.
Full-Frame offers extended creative options that are hugely important to SOME Directors and DPs.
There are certain imaging attributes of our Full Frame EOS C500 Mark II – that will attract those Directors and DPs.
The Bottom Line is that all of us should get fully behind both cameras – and we let the marketplace and your customer choose. We have the best of both worlds !
