NAB 2026: Beyond the Headlines — What’s Changing in Broadcast & Production
NAB is always about the gear, but this year reinforced that the real value is the people behind the technology solutions.

Omega sells technology, but vendor relationships are what make those sales possible. Strong relationships with manufacturer and reseller reps make our jobs easier, improve support, and keep us ahead of what is coming next. NAB gives us the rare opportunity to connect with nearly everyone at once — and this year delivered.
Key takeaway: No blockbuster camera launches — but a lot of meaningful innovation across workflows, IP video, control systems, and production efficiency.
Cameras & Lenses
- Pixboom: High-speed camera capable of 937fps at 4K with 13 stops of dynamic range, offering a simpler workflow compared to Phantom and Kron. Shipping in May.
- ARRI (via Riedel): Potential new access path for Omega following Riedel’s acquisition, including the ALEXA 35 with a broadcast fiber back.
- PTZOptics: Previewed a UE160-style camera with onboard framing and tracking, targeting a late 2026 release.
- LAOWA: 25–600mm zoom lens aimed at customers seeking a more cinematic look, particularly in house of worship environments. Release timing TBD.
- Canon: Introduced a 30x 40–1200mm zoom lens, expanding on the popular 50–1000mm range.
- Blackmagic Design: Showed cameras with 10G and 100G interfaces designed for field production and slow-motion replay as part of their 2110 workflow push.
Camera Support & Movement
- Libec: Heavy-duty PTZ pedestal with a multi-camera bar, along with rugged tripod systems featuring high-end counterbalance and all-metal construction.
- Easyrig Vario 6: 20% lighter than the Vario 5 and now supports smaller camera builds.
- Waterbird: New straight track pieces reduce overall kit cost, while removable magnets solve a long-standing deployment challenge.
Accessories
- Tilta: Adapter that brings autofocus to fully manual PL and EF cinema lenses using Sony’s AF protocol. Now shipping.
- MID49: USB-C power solution that communicates with the camera to deliver the correct voltage automatically.
- Core SWX: Smart power cables that auto-deliver correct voltage, plus the return of Sony NPF batteries.
Switching & Studio
- Simplylive (Riedel): EVS-competitive system combining replay, referee review, ingest, and switching. Supports up to three operators with no subscriptions and a perpetual license model, making it a strong fit for high school and college sports.
- Blackmagic Design: Continued push into a low-cost 2110 ecosystem, including their own line of switches, enabling a complete end-to-end 2110 workflow.
- AJA: Acquisition of Comprimato signals expansion into software and cloud-based workflows. Gen10 is now available as an openGear card.
- Cyanview: Unified shading and control across multiple camera brands through a single interface, ideal for mixed-brand environments. Offers a clear, dashboard-style overview of all connected devices.
- LiveU LU900Q: Successor to the LU600, featuring eSIM, 5G MIMO, 4:2:2 10-bit video, and support for up to 32 audio channels. Strong integration with Sony Z300 for solo live operators.
- Skaarhoj: Showed a modular “mega panel” control surface built with magnet-based components, allowing fully customizable system layouts.
- Quicklink StudioPro: Flexible switching solution with a modern, scene-based architecture that offers an alternative to traditional ME-based workflows.
